Since there is a community lockdown because of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, many dog shops are not operational. This means dog owners need to improvise and do the grooming of their dogs, including trimming their nails. Trimming a dog’s nail, however, is somehow a daunting task. This is because some dogs do not like their feet being touched.
But this intensive care unit (ICU) nurse named Lindsey Shelton found the most creative way of doing this chore towards her dog, Schmidt. This is through putting peanut butter on her head as a means to distract her dog.
It was efficient since the dog’s attention got drawn towards the peanut butter on her head. While she was doing the trimming of her dog’s nails, Lindsey filmed the whole incident. It can be seen that as Lindsey does the chore, the dog was busy licking the peanut butter. This was the opportunity she has been waiting to accomplish her task.
Although her husband judged her at first because of her idea, Lindsey did not mind. In the video, the husband could be heard teasing Lindsey. The husband said that Lindsey looks like a dork. But Lindsey did not care and instead answered that she will be the most intelligent dork ever. Lindsey knows that Schmidt likes peanut butter, so the woman used the same to lure the dog’s attention towards her. It was a successful diversionary tactic because she had the dog’s nail cleaned and trimmed.
Lindsey then said that she would do the same thing to her other dog, Murphy. She likewise filmed the scenario, but the technique was only partly a success. Murphy let Lindsey trim three of his nails, but immediately begged off and ran away. Lindsey uploaded a portion of the video on her TikTok and Instagram accounts, and it became a hit in the online world.
