Dog owners regard their pets as a part of the family, so when the dog needs medical attention, they do their best to save the life of their furry loved one.
Maria and Gareth of the UK spent the money they are saving for their wedding to save the life of their beloved dog, Bella.
Bella, a Shih Tzu, was born with weak hind legs. Bella’s previous owners said that she could be used as a breeding dog if no one will adopt her. Maria and Gareth felt crushed about the news, so they decided to bring Bella and her brother, Len, home.
Maria and Gareth know that Bella would need special care, but they didn’t mind it at all. They are ready for the responsibility of taking a special needs dog. Maria also felt a special connection with Bella because her daughter, Charlotte, was also born with weakness on her left body too. Bella and Len were treated like her children.
From the time that she was adopted, Bella has experienced a lot of hospital visits and confinements. She had muscle pains, leg breaks, and torn cruciate ligaments. Despite the injuries and illnesses she suffered, Bella continued to be a happy and loving dog.
Bella’s last hospitalization was due to ruptured left cruciate ligament and injured knee cap. The doctors told Maria that the only way to save Bella is through special surgery. The surgery costs 11,000 pounds, around 14,000 dollars. The doctors also suggested putting Bella to sleep.
It is hard for Maria and Gareth to decide. Bella had undergone three surgeries, and the couple also knows that it is not yet time for Bella to cross the Rainbow Bridge.
Maria and Gareth decided to spend the money that they have been saving for their wedding (around 7,000 pounds) to save Bella. They felt that Bella needed the money more than their event.
The couple has spent more than 13,000 pounds on Bella’s hospitalization and treatment. It cost a hole in their pockets, but they are determined to give everything for Bella. They started fundraising for Bella via GoFundMe.
So far, they have raised more than 3,276 pounds on GoFundMe. The couple is overwhelmed with the positive response they got from strangers.
Get well soon, Bella!
